Scope of influence

It’s important to us that the Plan is informed by the views of the local community, stakeholders, developers, landowners and others. Involving the community is important and will help to ensure that the Plan is responding to local need.

We aim to provide opportunities for the community and the people who work in and visit the city centre to engage with and influence the development of the Plan, because we recognise that these people know the area better than anyone. We are proposing to do this by gathering feedback through this website, by involving community representatives and local groups and by holding a community workshop/walkabout.

However, it is important to remember that long-term regeneration projects like this are complex and have many influencing factors. Proposals for the city centre will be informed by a mix of:
  • Planning policy
  • Community and stakeholder engagement
  • Landowner aspirations
  • Technical studies
  • Urban design analysis and best practice
  • Consideration of technical viability
  • Consideration and availability of funding and affordability.
